Git Monster Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 18, 2025
Welcome to “Weee: The Git Monster” (hereinafter referred to as “Git Monster”)! We highly value your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy is intended to explain how we handle your information.
1. Information Collection
Git Monster is committed to protecting your privacy. We hereby declare:
- We do not collect any user data. Git Monster is a pure client-side application and does not have a server backend. Consequently, we do not transmit any of your personal data or usage information to our servers or any third-party servers. All data processing occurs locally on your device.
2. Credentials and Authentication
To provide its core functionalities, Git Monster needs to interact with your Git providers (e.g., GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.).
- Git Provider Credentials: When you connect Git Monster to your Git provider, the provider uses the credentials you supply (such as username, Personal Access Tokens (PATs)) to verify your identity. These credentials are used solely for authentication with the respective Git provider.
- Data Communication with Git Providers: Please be aware that when you perform Git operations (such as cloning, pulling, pushing, etc.) through Git Monster, your code, commit information, and other related Git data will be communicated directly with your designated Git provider. This is fundamental to how Git version control systems operate, and Git Monster, as a client tool, facilitates this process.
- Credential Security: We cannot see or access the credentials you enter. For credentials you input for Git providers (such as usernames and Personal Access Tokens), this information is securely stored on your device using iOS’s Keychain service. We cannot access or read these credentials stored in the Keychain.
3. SSH Keys
Git Monster may generate SSH keys for you to communicate more securely with your Git providers.
- SSH Key Generation and Storage: SSH keys generated by the application utilize iOS’s built-in cryptographic library for their creation. These keys are securely stored in your device’s Keychain. We cannot access or retrieve these keys. When using SSH keys for Git operations, the relevant Git data is communicated with your Git provider via the SSH protocol.
4. Data Processing and Storage
As stated above, all operations and data storage within Git Monster primarily occur on your local device.
- Local Storage: Any data you generate or use through Git Monster, including cloned code repositories, configuration information, and the aforementioned credentials and SSH keys, is stored locally on your device or securely within the Keychain.
- Data Exchange with Git Providers: Although we do not collect your data on our servers, using Git Monster for version control operations necessarily involves the exchange of your data (e.g., code, branch information, commit history) with your chosen Git provider. Git Monster acts solely as an intermediary between you and your Git provider, operating according to your instructions.
- No Data Transmission to Us: We do not transmit any of your personal data, code, or credentials to any external servers belonging to the developers of Git Monster. The only communication with outside servers is with your Git provider, as directed by your actions within the app.
5. Third-Party Services
Git Monster does not proactively share your personal information with any third-party services, with the sole exception of you instructing the application to communicate with your Git provider. Communication with Git providers is based on your explicit actions and authorization and is limited to what is necessary to provide core Git functionalities.
6. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any material changes to this policy, we will notify you through appropriate means (e.g., by posting a notice within the app or updating our website). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
